Five regimes, one vocabulary, plainly defined.
Written for the person who has just been handed the compliance file and has to integrate against it by the end of the quarter.

- 5regimes covered
- Adverse media
- Press and public-record reporting that bears on a customer's risk. The weakest of the three screening signals, returned as sourced flags and never sufficient on its own to refuse an account.
- Affordabilityfinancial vulnerability check
- An assessment of whether a player's losses are plausible given what is known about their means. Distinct from source of funds, which asks where the money came from rather than whether it can be spared.
- ADMAgenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli
- The Italian customs and monopolies agency, which licenses and supervises gambling in Italy.
- DGOJDirección General de Ordenación del Juego
- The Spanish directorate general responsible for supervising state-level gambling.
- Evidence bundle
- The sealed, immutable record behind a verdict: the signals, their scores, the sources consulted, the policy version applied and the timestamps. The thing a supervisor actually asks for.
- GAMSTOP
- The national online self-exclusion scheme for Great Britain, queryable by licensed remote operators.
- GGLGemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder
- The joint German authority supervising licensed gambling under the 2021 State Treaty.
- Idempotency key
- A client-supplied identifier that makes a repeated write safe. Replaying a check creation with the same key returns the original check rather than opening a second one.
- Liveness
- Evidence that the face in front of the camera belongs to a present person rather than a photograph or a screen. Runs before the face match, not after it.
- Normalised identity
- A person's details reduced to a comparable form — diacritics folded, name order resolved, transliteration standardised — so that screening matches people rather than spellings.
- OASIS
- The German central blocking file, holding self-imposed and third-party gambling exclusions, queried before a player is granted access to play.
- PEPpolitically exposed person
- Someone holding or close to a prominent public function. Not an accusation: it raises the standard of diligence, which is why the platform returns a tier rather than a refusal.
- Policy version
- A dated set of thresholds for one market. Recorded against every check so a decision taken under old thresholds can still be explained by them.
- RGIAJRegistro General de Interdicciones de Acceso al Juego
- The Spanish national register of gambling-access prohibitions, maintained by the DGOJ.
- Source of funds
- Documentary evidence of where a player's money originates — salary, sale, inheritance — as distinct from affordability, which is about capacity to lose it.
- SRIJServiço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos
- The Portuguese gambling regulation and inspection service, part of Turismo de Portugal.
- Step token
- A short-lived credential scoped to one capture step of one check, handed to the client so that an API key never reaches a browser or a handset.
- UKGCGambling Commission
- The regulator of commercial gambling in Great Britain.
- Verdict
- One of pass, review or fail, with the reasons that produced it. The platform returns decisions rather than scores, because a score cannot be explained to a supervisor.
